Peace And Understanding

This week yet another Real Murcia squad member appeared before the press to answer the usual boring questions. And we had yet another set of standard answers. All very "middle of the road, rock no boats" Stuff. This week it was Pablo Haro facing the usual banal line of questioning. He had this to say....

"From the first day my teammates are treating me very well. The coach is counting on me and the sensations are good. We have to continue on this path"

This got me thinking that all the players seem to say this - everything is good, everyone seems to treat each other well. All very nice. Indeed, too nice maybe. I can remember many a successful team where a week wouldn't go by without a training ground bust up. Keown or Adams were always at someone's throat if they weren't pulling their weight in training. Roy Keane would rapidly make sure there was a healthy level of competitive edge at all times. They were leaders who held the others to a standard. I'm sure Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger did not frown upon the odd fist, black eye or general handbags every once in a while.

Have to say I miss this at Real Murcia. They all get on far too well.....and as they old saying goes, "you play as you train". If it's all nice and good chums, that's how we will play - and a lot of hungrier teams will have us for lunch.

Keane, Neville, Keown or Vieira, the Monday of the week after, would all be best mates with whoever had transgressed.....as long as the weekend saw a win. That is reaching real peace and understanding.

So here's hoping for a training ground kerfuffle this week. Will show a side to us I think we are lacking; a bit of aggression.
