Ouch!

Big anti-corruption operation by the Guardia Civil yesterday in Murcia....all to do with land and building in the north of the city, and this of course includes the NC complex (Stadium, shipping centre and housing) amongst others.

The investigation is centred around civil servants granting favor to developers; requalifying land so that they can build more, surveying the value downwards to therefore avoid paying many millions in tax. Charges include embezzlement of public funds, bribery, money laundering, etc. etc.

Real Murcia president and majority shareholder Jesus Samper is one of the accused, along with councilors, lawyers and other civil servants. His home was searched yesterday.

As a taxpayer.....if proven....I hope they all spend a long time behind bars. Will this effect the club? I have no idea....

Embezzlement, bribery, money laundering.....this sounds like part of the storyline to Guy Ritchie's excellent film "Rocknrolla" where the gangster/developers have their councilor in their pocket....or by the balls as it turns out.
